Catie Purcell, Founder & Yoga Instructor
Catie Purcell is a 500 hour Yoga Alliance Certified Registered Yoga Teacher in Los Angeles, California. She achieved her 200 hour yoga teacher training certificate here in LA and her 300 hour in Rishikesh, Uttarakhand (India). She received 20 hour continued education certifications in Kirtan, Sound Healing, Ayurveda, and Yin Yoga during her time in India as well. Catie has studied all seven schools of Yoga and avidly practices Bhakti Yoga and the teachings of Sage Maharishi Patanjali. Fun fact: Bhakti Yoga is what The Beatles studied and practiced too! As far as the physical practice goes, she applies her extensive knowledge in Yoga Therapy, Vinyasa, Hatha, Yin, and Ashtanga Yoga into her teaching style and methodology to provide a well balanced practice for all levels. Catie has every soul she’s met, teachers and students alike, to thank for helping to shape her into who she is today and of course that continues.
She navigates her way through this vast and ancient practice by carefully choosing which teachings/teachers to follow via self-study or svadhyaya. She’s especially overwhelmed with gratitude toward teachers, Yogi Mano Hari, Yogi Swami Vishnu, Katyayani Devi Dasi, and Krishna Dasi for unselfishly bestowing all of their knowledge, love, and guidance upon her.
Catie’s passion for yoga originated when she was only 18 years old and it has by now become her way of life. Catie believes yoga to be the number one practice for spiritual/physical development, and mental liberation. It’s the only practice which proactively and reactively cleanses and heals the body, mind, and spirit all together. She is alignment oriented, with a light personality, and an eagerness to help and heal. Thanks to her background in music, she adds a unique touch to her classes by ending with a live acoustic chant sung in the native yogic language, Sanskrit.
Unified by a love for the Earth and the people who live in it.
